Well, obviously I have not updated in a long time. Well, not too much has happened in my life today other than the normal work related debacles. I have had roadside for about 2 weeks in a row now and I can definitely say I am down right sick and tired of it. It really helps the paychecks especially since work has been bleak at best. Most of the techs, including me are averaging about 6-7 hours a day and spending close to 9-10 hours there. Working through lunch trying to get any job that comes in. Not fun at all. And roadside hasn’t even been that busy either. I’m not too sure how well this is all going to play out. And there is rumors with the new owners coming in that there are going to be some layoff (as expected with a new owner and little work). I do know that Cristina and I were planning on moving back come June, but that may end up coming sooner than expected. Oh well.
As far as the crankshaft portion goes. I finally went and got one for my poor neglected wagon. When I was up in Placerville for Thanksgiving weekend, I went to pick-n-pull with my new step-sister to finally go and get a crankshaft. I was very lucky too. There was a fresh 1985 300SD that was rear ended that wasn’t touch under the hood yet. Lucky me. And even better, the engine looked so perfect. I was temped to just take the whole thing, but I just don’t have the finances nor space to support it. After 5.5 hours of time spent and good ol’ Pick-n-Pull, I finally left with my new crankshaft. Now I just need to get a new set of connecting rods, a manual trans flywheel, and have it all balanced. Then I can finally start putting it together. The only big expense item still left to get is the turbo… Oh so much too due, such a small bank account.
Well, we had the 2nd meeting for the north bay section yesterday. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like there will be any real change or motivation for a satellite section. Yes, there are a a bunch of club activities planned for 2009, but they are club section wide. Not just satellite north bay members. Oh well, it was worth a try.
I also spent the majority of the weekend utilizing my truck as a truck. I help a coupe of friends move for some extra cash and/or lunch for a couple of days. It definitely is nice to actually use it like it was built every now and then. I still have a bunch of work that needs to get done on it though to make it the way I need it to be. I already have the seat belt for the left rear that I still need to install to at least make that seat useable again. I don’t exactly have a complete set of tools yet at home so I’ll have to wait till I have time to deal with it at work. Hopefully, I will be able to get my projects pages done to help keep everyone (and me) informed on the progress.
That’s all I’ll say for now.
