Well, yesterday I attended a small meeting with about 9 other North Bay regional member of the San Francisco Bay Area Section of the Mercedes-Benz Club of America. The meeting was to try and create a satellite section branched off of the main section. Well It sounded great and all, but I’m just not too sure it will pan out since there are only roughly 140 members that actually live in the North Bay. The main focus was to have for regional events held up here instead of the majority being in South Bay or the Peninsula as well as to get the two local dealerships (mine - R.A.B. Motors, and Santa Rosa’s - Smother’s) to help out and support the club some more. They already offer a 10% discount on parts and service to club members but don’t really give a damn about recruitment at all. Everyone sounded quite energetic about the idea of a North Bay Satellite, but I have a feeling that steam will run out quite quickly and end up being Southern event oriented once again. Oh well.
On other news, I am really starting to feel the hurt of the economy at work. We only had 29 appointments scheduled for the whole shop with 26 technicians needing work. And to make it worse, 5 cancelled there appointments and 3 didn’t even show up. I also had a dentist appointment of my own today which took 2.5 hours, so I wasn’t even present for most of the day to collect what work there even was. I was lucky enough to get one of my up-sales back this morning before my appointment so I was able to make 4.7 hours before leaving. I just really hope tomorrow picks up again, because I dont’ have Roadside this week to help make up the difference.
